About us
A not for profit landlord
Ramaa Living Limited is a company limited by guarantee without share capital. No shares, no shareholders, no dividend.
What that actually means
Nobody owns a piece of it
A company limited by guarantee has no share capital. There is nothing to buy, nothing to sell, and no mechanism by which anyone can draw a profit out of it. The rent pays for the buildings, the repairs, and running the organisation.
It matters in two practical ways. For a tenant, the landlord has no reason to let the buildings run down in order to pay someone. For a council or a hospital team deciding where to place somebody, it is the clearest difference between us and a private landlord holding the same four buildings.
Company number to be confirmed Incorporated in England and Wales.
Scale
Four
buildings, all in Canterbury
Small and local, deliberately. Four buildings in one city rather than a portfolio spread across the country, and we own them rather than managing them for somebody else.
That is why a repair is ours to get right. There is no freeholder to point at.
What we hold ourselves to
Four objectives
A decent home, affordable
Housing that someone can actually afford, so that living independently stays possible for people who might otherwise not manage it.
Fairness and respect
Tenants are treated as adults with rights over their own home, not as recipients of a service.
Open about what we do
Transparent and accountable. If we have got something wrong we would rather be told.
Looking for the better way
Forward thinking about how the housing, and the service around it, can be improved.
Who does what
The landlord, not the support
Ramaa Living provides the housing. The care and support inside these buildings is provided separately by Citta Care, a different company with its own staff and its own regulator.
We keep the two apart on purpose. It means a tenant can raise something about the building without it becoming a conversation about their care, and it means neither organisation can hide behind the other.
Anything about the building, the tenancy, a repair or a permission is ours. Anything about support is theirs.
For professionals
Placing someone with us
If you are a local authority housing or social care team, a hospital discharge team, or a support provider looking at accommodation in Canterbury, get in touch and we will tell you what is available and what the tenancy looks like.
We will be straight with you about what we do not do. We are a landlord. We do not provide the care.
